Skincare Routine
Hey guys my name is Billie-Rose and welcome to my blog. In this post I am going to write about my skincare routine and what I do to try and keep my oily and acne prone skin under control. But before I begin talking about the products I just want to say I am on medication at the moment to treat acne so it is not completely the products doing all the work. If you feel like your acne is getting out of control and you just can't seem to settle it down go to your doctor and ask if he/she can do anything to help. But for myself my doctor put me on Doxycycline Sandoz 50mg which are tablets. I take one a day and he also gave me a prescription for Differin cream which I apply directly to the acne every night just before bed.
I feel the most important thing to do when trying to treat acne, anti-aging etc. is to have a 3 step skincare system which is carried out both morning and night consistently. I have tried sooo many different products all which claim to treat acne but I am finding the system I am currently using to work the best for me. I have already done a review on these products before but I will mention them again.
Firstly you want to start out by cleansing your face just with a face wash. I really like the 'Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Gel' because I find this to be both gentle but effective.
Secondly you want to use a toner. Toner's are very watery like substances that clean the skin free of makeup, oil, dirt etc. and also help close the pores limiting more acne outbreaks. I use and enjoy the 'Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion' again I feel this is gentle on my skin but still rids my skin of things that are not supposed to be there. Toner's are best used with either a cotton ball or cotton pad.
Thirdly it is important to use a moisturizer no matter what skin type you have. Because I have very oily skin I just like to use a lightweight, mattifying moisturizer on my face. My favourite one to use is the 'Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel'. I find this to be exactly what I want. There is also a lotion version available for drier skin types.
Now these next two steps are optional but I would recommend them.
Firstly exfoliating, I use the 'Clarins Gentle Refiner'. I use this once or twice a week and defiantly no more than that as that can result is damaged skin. Exfoliating removes all dead skin cells and just any hard to budge nasty's on the face. I would recommend carrying out this step at least once a week as it is very beneficial to the skin.
Secondly some people like to also use a face mask. I would only recommend using any kind of face mask once or twice a week as overdoing it can overdo your skin. I really like the 'Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask' from 'Formula 10.0.6'. This brand make so many really great face masks for all different skin types so if you are currently looking for a good, inexpensive face mask I would suggest having a look at their website. This mask is effective, doesn't irritate the skin at all and is inexpensive.
To remove my eye makeup I use the 'Clarins Eye Makeup Remover Lotion'. I use this product with either a cotton ball or a cotton pad. It remove my makeup nicely and doesn't irritate the skin around my eyes at all.
If you don't have time to carry out your 3 step system one night at least use a makeup removing face wipe before bed. I would recommend the smartskin wipes as they are very cheap and they are your cleanser, toner, moisturizer a makeup remover all in one.
